Invisalign - Clear Braces
What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a new way of straightening teeth to give you a smile you have always envisioned. This method of straightening teeth does not use any metal wires or brackets. Instead, it uses clear aligner trays that are worn over your teeth. These clear trays are smooth, comfortable and almost invisible. Most people will not be able to tell that you are wearing anything over your teeth at all!
How Does It Work?
Invisalign uses a set of clear aligner trays to gently shift your teeth into the correct position. This is a gradual change that many patients find comfortable. A set of custom-made aligner trays is made specifically for your mouth. The number of clear aligner trays that you will have to wear varies with each person. Your dentist will be able to tell you how many sets of trays you will need.
You will wear each set of aligner trays for about two weeks, then switch to the next set. Once you have completed all of the sets, your treatment will be complete!
Invisalign:
– Almost invisible clear aligners
– Comfortable to wear aligners
– Easily removable for cleaning & eating
– No need to avoid certain foods
– Oral hygiene care is simple
Traditional Braces:
– Use of metal wires & brackets
– Mouth irritation due to wires & brackets
– Oral hygiene care requires more time
– Certain foods are restricted
– Not removable when eating
What Is The Process?
The first step begins with a consultation, to ensure that you are a suitable candidate. Once it has been determined that you are a candidate, your dental records will be taken. Your dentist will take some photos, x-rays and dental impressions of your teeth. These records will be used to make a 3D digital image.
This 3D image will be used to create a customised treatment plan. You will be able to see the projected movements of the teeth and how your smile will look at the end of treatment. You will also have a better idea of how long your treatment will take. Treatment usually takes about one year for adults. For teenagers, treatment duration is similar to traditional braces. In some cases, some patients may be eligible for express treatment, which can take as little as six months.
