There can be. Some dental services, such as cosmetic procedures or treatments outside the plan’s scope, are not covered by the CDCP and must be paid entirely by you. Yes! You have to renew your CDCP coverage annually to confirm your ongoing eligibility. It is essential to verify that your coverage is active before seeking treatment. When you renew, your co-payment level may change based on your updated adjusted family net income. However, any previously preauthorized therapies will be paid according to the co-payment level in effect at the time of treatment.
Once your application is approved, the Government of Canada sends a letter with your member ID, start date, and co-payment level (if applicable). This allows you to book your first appointment. Separately, Sun Life enrolls you and mails a welcome package containing information and your physical member card (which does not list the start date). You can book a consultation with us to get started via our Contact page.
Unfortunately, you cannot get CDCP coverage if you have private insurance. The program is not designed to coordinate with or supplement private, employer, or territorial/provincial non-social programs. The CDCP was created to close coverage gaps for eligible Canadians. If you have additional questions or are still unsure about your eligibility, contact us at (416) 652-7590!
